Sketch note: Don’t Fix Women (book)

Gender Equality at Work

When it comes to sketch notes, I love a clear metaphor. After a Zoom call with Joy Burnford, Author & CEO of Encompass Equality, and Claire Dagwell, Marketing & Operations Executive, I knew I wanted to build the sketch note around a compass and mountain top. I then skimmed Joy’s book, Don’t Fix Women to fill out the sketch note with key ideas.

Starting with the compass in the centre, the sketch note widens to the four parts of the book:

  1. Inclusive leadership
  2. Cultural frameworks
  3. Understand obstacles
  4. Navigate your route
A sketch note for Joy Burnford's book, Don't Fix Women

Here’s Joy’s feedback for this sketch note, (shown above):

“Sam Warburton created a wonderful sketch note for my book, Don’t Fix Women, and continues to sketch note episodes for my podcast, The Equality Conversation. She is incredible in her ability to distil a huge amount of content into such delightful visual images that are easy to digest and really highlight the key takeaways. Sam is talented, creative and professional, and also lovely to work with. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending her to others.”

I’m honoured to still be working with the team at Encompass Equality to sketch note live case studies and podcast episodes for The Equality Conversation. You can listen here.
